the fiber based paper is coated with barium
sulphate, also known as baryta, which has been used to coat photo papers for
over 100 years. The baryta coating provides a smooth surface and stops the
ink from penetrating into and degrading the paper base. With a very high
D-max, this paper rivals traditional black & white photographic prints.
Gold Fibre Silk does not contain optical brighteners.
Ilford Gold Fibre Silk Paper works with all
inkjet printers, but is optimized for pigment inks such as Epson UltraChrome K3,
Canon LUCIA and HP Vivera inks printers.

NOTE: As with all nanoporous (instant dry) coated media,
ILFORD GALERIE Smooth Pearl can be susceptible to 'gas fading' due to air borne
pollutants. Covering the image with glass for example, will ensure that a print
from a dye based printer will last for up to 10 years depending on the
manufacturers ink. Initial accelerated testing indicates that a GALERIE Smooth
Paper product will last in excess of 30 years using a pigment ink desktop
printer.
